A Detroit Riverfront Legacy Since 1949

Sindbad's began in 1949 as a humble riverfront gathering place—and has grown into a beloved Detroit institution. Founded by brothers-in-law Buster Blancke and Van VanHollebecke, the restaurant has been a staple for boaters, families, and seafood lovers for over 70 years. Today, the Blancke family proudly carries on the tradition, serving up fresh Great Lakes fish, Angus steaks, and our famous house-made clam chowder with the same welcoming spirit. From a Prohibition-era speakeasy to a second-generation family business, Sindbad's remains rooted in community, quality, and the joy of a good meal by the water.
